HAILERA™ Leno Hail Netting is a woven anti-hail net for permanent overhead canopy systems in orchards and vineyards. Made of 100% virgin HDPE monofilament in a leno (gauze) weave, it shields apples, pears and grapes from hail while letting most of the light through — supplied in 200 m rolls, in crystal or black.
Leno is a locking weave: two or more warp threads cross over each other and interlace with the filling thread, so every intersection is tied rather than laid over. In a fabric as open as a hail net, that is what keeps yarns from sliding under load — push a branch or a hailstone through, and the geometry holds. Damage stays where it happened.
The extra material goes where the load goes. Both lateral selvages and the centre line carry additional yarn, because on a 200 m run the selvage is what hangs between your anchor points. Under-build it and the net sags mid-season — the single most common way a net stops performing long before its UV life is up.
The polymer is 100% virgin HDPE monofilament with a BASF UV stabiliser and anti-oxidant package. Virgin matters more than it sounds: stabilisers can only protect polymer chains that arrive intact, and recycled feedstock arrives with its chains already partly broken. That is why there is no recycled content in this net.
The crystal build is a transparent, natural-white weave suited to colour-critical fruit trees; the black build adds shade for high-radiation regions. Rolls ship to growers across Australia, New Zealand, the Americas and Europe.
Seven builds, one rule: choose hole size against the largest hailstones your region actually gets. Denser models also add windbreak — a bonus on exposed sites, worth watching in humid valleys.
| Model | Mesh /inch | Weight | Yarn dia | Hole size | Shade | Windbreak | Porosity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5116-43 | 4×8 | 43 g/m² | 0.25 mm | 7×4 mm | 10% | 21% | 86.5% |
| 5116-48 | 4×9 | 48 g/m² | 0.25 mm | 7×3 mm | 13% | 23% | 84.6% |
| 5116-50 | 4×10 | 50 g/m² | 0.25 mm | 7×2.8 mm | 15% | 24% | 83.0% |
| 5116-55 | 4×11 | 55 g/m² | 0.25 mm | 7×2.2 mm | 18% | 25% | 81.0% |
| 5116-65 | 5×11 | 65 g/m² | 0.25 mm | 5.1×2.2 mm | 20% | 30% | 79.0% |
| 5116-70 | 8×11 | 70 g/m² | 0.25 mm | 3.5×2.2 mm | 25% | 35% | 75.0% |
| 5116-65W | 3×8 | 65 g/m² | 0.35 mm | 8.5×2.9 mm | 10% | 19% | 88.0% |
Last row: same 65 g/m², thicker 0.35 mm yarn, larger hole — durability without shade, for wind-limited rather than sun-limited sites. Shade values shown are for the standard build; crystal runs from ~7%, black from ~25%.
Rolls run 200 m, in 4.0 m and 4.5 m widths or made to measure — roughly 35–63 kg per roll depending on model and width. Width rule of thumb: row spacing plus pitch allowance; send us your row spacing and we will confirm the width.

Three choices configure this net. Each takes one rule — the deep dives live in our Hail Netting Guide.
Choose hole size against the largest hailstones your region typically sees — the model table above lists all seven builds. Denser models also add 30–35% windbreak; factor that in on humid, still sites.
Black (~25% shade) is for high-radiation regions where heat load is the problem. In temperate orchards where fruit colour matters, crystal transmits ~93% of light — colour-safe for apples and table grapes.
Yes — 700, 1200 or 1500 kLy to match your region's annual radiation. The warranty follows the grade: 5, 8 or 10 years pro-rata.
No. The holes are far larger than insect-exclusion mesh. If insect pressure is part of your problem, look at our insect netting range instead: https://eyouagro.com/topic/insect-netting/
No. The leno weave locks warp threads at every intersection, so damage stays local instead of running — the net keeps working until you patch it.
Yes. The 20,000 m² minimum order can be split across colours and models — tell us the split when you request the quote.
Keep your original order number or a roll label: we produce from the same specification and masterbatch recipe, so a repeat order runs to the same build.
