The client, Mr. Castillo, represents the renowned agricultural company AmeriCrops Inc., which is responsible for a procurement project for its Guatemalan operation, Guatemala Growers SA.

As a large-scale professional grower, they needed to cover the tops of their bell pepper greenhouse tunnels with a total of 93,600 square meters of 50-mesh anti-aphid netting.
The unique aspect of the project was the required single-roll dimension of a staggering 13 meters wide by 100 meters long, an extremely difficult specification to handle in the industry.
The Challenge
This project was destined to be filled with challenges from its inception, ultimately escalating into a “stress test” of the supplier’s comprehensive capabilities.
- Extreme Product Specifications: A single roll of netting weighing 169kg and measuring 13 meters wide is beyond the capacity of standard production, packing, and loading equipment. It not only required high-quality splicing of multiple panels but its immense bulk and weight also made packaging and manual container loading exceptionally difficult and time-consuming.
- External Shocks: During the production period, not only did sea freight costs double due to market conditions, but the actual shipping schedule was also delayed by military exercises, adding further variables to an already tight delivery plan.
- The Final “Disaster”—A Loading Failure: This was the culmination of all challenges. Due to our underestimation of the volume of these oversized, heavy, and irregularly shaped packages, after 4 hours of strenuous effort by 6 workers, only 50 of the 72 rolls planned for a single 40’HQ container were loaded. 22 rolls were left at the factory, just before an extended national holiday in China
EyouAgro’s Solution
Faced with this major crisis caused by our own miscalculation, we knew that any explanation would be pale. The only solution was to demonstrate our responsibility and integrity through action.
- Step 1: Immediate and Utterly Candid Communication:
- On the day the problem occurred, our head of business, Kevin Lyu, immediately sent a candid email to the client. He didn’t beat around the bush, but opened by sharing the “good news (the first container has shipped)” and the “bad news (but it’s not all in there).” He clearly explained the reason for the failure—the product’s immense size exceeded all expectations—and apologized for the miscalculation.
- Step 2: Taking Responsibility at Any Cost:
- In the email, we left no room for negotiation or debate. We directly presented our solution: “We will arrange and ship another container for you… even if it would cost us too much. It’s our responsibility.” Prior to this, we had already absorbed the doubling of sea freight costs due to market volatility. Once again, we chose to put the client’s interests first.
- Step 3: Professional Execution to Fulfill the Promise:
- We did what we said we would do. Immediately after the holiday in China, we booked a new 20’GP container for the remaining 22 rolls and shipped them out at the earliest opportunity. Ultimately, all 72 rolls were successfully delivered to the client via two separate containers (one 40’HQ and one 20’GP).
The Result & Value
The outcome of this turbulent partnership went far beyond the completion of an order.
- The Strongest Trust is Forged in a Crisis: In his reply, the client Mr. Castillo, while expressing some disappointment, showed more understanding and acknowledged it as a “learning experience for both parties.” Through our actions of taking responsibility, we earned the client’s immense respect and built a level of deep trust that could never be achieved in a smooth transaction.
- Defended the EyouAgro Brand Promise: We backed our promise of “customer first” and “commitment to our word” with a significant financial investment. This case became the best testament to our commercial integrity for all potential clients.
- Transformed a One-Time Client into a Long-Term Partner: A well-handled crisis is the best marketing. Through this event, the client profoundly recognized that EyouAgro was a partner who could be absolutely trusted in critical moments, laying the most solid foundation for a long-term partnership.
Conclusion
While a perfect partnership is certainly commendable, the courage to face mistakes and take responsibility is what truly defines a great company.
EyouAgro is committed to being our clients’ most reliable supporter. We know that in the complex world of international trade, surprises are inevitable.
But we promise that no matter what happens, we will stand with our clients and see our responsibilities through to the end. Because what we deliver is never just a product, but 100% peace of mind.
